The highly anticipated trailer for Being the Ricardos, the movie about Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball starring Academy Award winners Javier Bardem and Nicole Kidman, is here.
While biographical, the Amazon Studios film centers only on a short, critical period of time in the life of the famous Hollywood power couple who created the legendary family comedy show I Love Lucy.
Being the Ricardos is executive produced by the two children of Ball and Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucie Arnaz.
“I get paid a fortune to do exactly what I love doing,” says Kidman’s Ball in voiceover on the movie trailer. “I work side by side with my husband who is genuinely impressed by me. And all I have to do it is kill for 36 weeks in a row. And then, do it again the next year.”
Bardem’s Arnaz can be seen as the businessman running the couple’s company Desilu Productions. Before the filming of an episode, he appears before a live studio audience saying in heavily accented English, “Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy the show!”
The film is directed by Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote the script. Also starring in the film are J. K. Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jake Lacy, Clark Gregg, Nelson Franklin, John Rubinstein, Linda Lavin, Robert Pine and Christopher Denham.
The movie will open in theaters Dec. 10 and start streaming on Amazon Prime Dec. 21.
