ALMA Awards, Friday, September 21, 2012 at 8/7C on NBC
Do not miss the year’s NCLR ALMA Awards. In one hour the ALMA Awards showed us that things are definitely looking up for Latinos, not just in entertainment but, but in our country. It was an exciting evening featuring mega stars like Christina Aguilera, Andy Garcia, and Edgar Ramirez (Wrath of the Titans). The young Latino Hollywood contingency was well represented with Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf); Cierra Ramirez (Girl in Progress) and Naya Rivera (Glee) all taking their ALMA home.
The writing team did an excellent job (Nancy de los Santos and John Mack), noticible because it was not noticible…the wrap arounds for so-hosts Eva Longoria and George Lopez, who this year worked in tandem worked great – they are ready to take the act on the road — oh wait they are, they will be in Vegas together for the Padres Contra el Cancer charity event at the Tropicana on Sept. 28th). Longoria even had some of the punchlines while still doing her signature wardrobe changes…this year the fashion theme of the evening being “chic”.
Not only will you get to see all the celebs from the music film and TV wold you will see Olympian pride with the presentation of the 5 Latino Olymians. Other highlights of the evening Constance Marie (Switched at Birth) will finally breake her Susan Lucchi streak; Zoe Saldana, (Avatar, La Colombiana) gets emotional; the devious maids dress up for the evening; Rosalyn Sanchez tears up the floor and sings; and Hollywood legends Cheech Marin and Henry Darrow (High Chaparell) are awarded.
This year’s ALMA Awards join the big boys with substance, talent and glamour but they outshine them all with Corazon!
Congratulations Janet Murgia, President and CEO of NCLR and all the production team and Co-Producers Dick Clark Productions
