Daniella Pineda (Fitzgerald Family Christmas, Homeland) has landed a juicy regular role in The Originals (CW network) which is a “potential” spinoff of the hugely successful Vampire Dairies—both created and executive produced by Julie Plec.
The Originals will be introduced as an upcoming episode of the Vampire Daries on an episode that airs April 25th. Pineda who is a Mexican-American actress and comedian from Oakland, California, will co-star along side of Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin who will be reprising their Vampire Diaries roles. The Originals centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus (Morgan) returns to the supernatural and mystical French Quarter of New Orleans.
Pineda will play Sophie, who according to production notes “is a witch whose magic has been silenced but not extinguished. Sophie is a warrior, a bruja whose magic has been threatened but will not give up as she quietly sows the seeds of revolution amongst her peers. She’s a leader, a social sexy social force… with an enormous bleeding heart that she often distinguishes with a sharp tongue and a glare.”
