Those Amazing Curvy Girls Are Back! Brace Yourselves Because Season 2 Has Bigger Dreams, a Badass New Girl And Enough Real-Life Drama To Make a Telenovela Envious!
Premieres June 11th, 10PM (ET) on nuvoTV
Curvy Girls Season 2 expect things to get even sexier and even more glamorous. Denise, Lornalitz, Ivory and Rosie are living the life in New York City and rocking the fashion world at sizzling photo shoots and amazing locations. But it just wouldn’t be Curvy Girls without all of the drama that follows these gorgeous divas… with the friendships forged and broken, love on the rocks, family secrets, plus the entrance of a brand-new Curvy Girl in their midst! Wilhelmina model and former American Idol semi-finalist Joanne joins the ranks, but will the girls accept her as one of their own?
Unlike the other modeling shows, this series follows full-figured Latina American models as they try to make it as curvy girls in a skinny girl world. With the constant pressure that “thin is in,” these girls offer up a new perspective on what it’s like to be glamorous and beautiful in your own skin. Of course being a full figured woman isn’t without its struggles…the women deal with broken hearts, difficult friendships and issues of criticism with their weight. In addition, our Curvy Girls talk about heritage, fashion, beauty, style and what it’s like to succeed as a plus-size model in a cut-throat industry.
About the Curvy Girls:
The multi-talented new girl Joanne is a force to be reckoned with as a singer/songwriter (American Idol semi-finalist), model (repped by powerhouse agency Wilhelmina) and fashion designer (jewelry and plus-size clothing). The first winner of Oxygen’s beauty pageant show Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance, this ambitious looker was one of the first plus-size models to walk the runways of New York Fashion Week for Richie Rich. Joanne’s clients have included Ashley Stewart, Wal-Mart, Macy’s and Nordstrom among others, and she has also graced several covers of Plus Model Magazine.
Ivory Mae Kalber:
Ivory was 14 when she made her first attempt at modeling—only to be told she “needed to lose some weight.” Unwilling to take “no” for an answer, this tenacious beauty is now living her dream. Ivory has now worked as a professional model for nearly a decade and has modeled for Lane Bryant, Target and Playtex and has been featured in Glamour and O.
A former contestant on nuvoTV’s Model Latina Las Vegas, Lornalitz knows all about fierce competition and recently signed to Heffner Management. With her gorgeous looks and talent, you can expect that this Puerto Rican dynamo to continue to trail-blaze in her career with new and exciting clients.
Despite her gorgeous face, there’s more to Rosie than meets the eye. Though a busy mother of three, Rosie is an entrepreneurial force to be reckoned with who divides her time as celebrity make-up artist, actress, radio personality and community philanthropist. She now adds designer of plus-size fashions to her growing resume… another step as a role model for women all over the world.
Puerto Rican beauty Denise is a model, actress, and spokesperson who uses her career as a platform to inspire and empower women to embrace their bodies no matter their size or shape. Named in 2013 as one of Cosmopolitan Latina’s “Faces to Watch,” she’s worked with clients including Vogue.it, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Lane Bryant, and Forever 21. As one of the most recognizable plus size models, Denise has appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and can be seen next on HBO Latino’s show Habla.
