The Fosters  is a one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms.  The series brings together some of Hollywood’s brightest young TV actors and two Latino favorites of the ABC/Disney stable of actors Cierra Ramirez and Jake T. Austin.

Cierra Ramirez, who will be making her exit out of her current ACB Channel gig on The Secret Life of the American Teenage (now in its final season),  will be playing Mariana Foster with Austin playing one of her several siblings.

Cierra started out at 10 singing her way into Showtime at the Apollo as the opening act for many of American Idol’s stars. It was her role as Ansiedad, the smart and sassy daughter of Eva Mendes’ character in Girl in Progress in 2012 that brought her to the attention of ABC/Disney who immediately put her under a development deal.  She went on to win an ALMA Award for her exceptional portrayal of Ansiedad.

Jake T. Austin began acting at the age of seven as the voice of Diego in Dora the Explorer for one episode.  He became a household name s playing Max Russo in Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, which went on to win an Emmy, an ALMA and NAACP Image Award!  Jake is half Puerto Rican/Argentinean and half Polish/Irish and should blend right into The Fosters.

Other cast members are Teri Polo (Meet the Parents), Sherri Saum (In Treatment), Hayden Byerly (Parenthood)David Lambert (Aaron Stone), newcomer Maia Mitchell (star of Disney Channel’s upcoming Teen Beach Movie), and Danny Nucci (Titanic).

Production on the series will begin this Spring for Summer premieres. Joanna Johnson (Make it or Break it)Simon FieldsBenny Medina and Greg Gugliotta will also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Nuyorican Productions, Inc., and Prodco, Inc.
