“This was an important series for us to air. We wanted to explore the complexities of the issues in the region, especially as it relates to rights of gay couples. It was essential that our viewers recognize that the LGBT community has the same dreams and aspirations as heterosexuals,” commented Salazar. “Both the LGBT and Hispanic community continue to make their voices heard on critical issues. We are delighted to receive the recognition and more importantly, to continue the conversation with our audience,” she added.
“We are honored to be recognized by GLAAD. Together we are committed to sharing the stories of our community to promote greater understanding and acceptance,” said Nicole Quiroga, Station Manager. “Congratulations to the Telenoticias team for the nomination!”
The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality. Winners of this year’s awards will be announced at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies held in Los Angeles on April 12 and in New York on May 3.
