Penelope Cruz Announced as Presenter At the Oscars®

Beverly Hills, CA – In addition to the seven Latino Academy Award ® at this year’s Oscars, Academy Award® winner Penélope Cruz has just been announced as a presenter at the 84th Academy Awards® ceremony which takes place on February 26th and will air on ABC.

Cruz won an Oscar® in 2008 for her supporting role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She was also nominated for her lead performance in Volver (2006) and for her supporting role in Nine (2009). Her other film credits include Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sex and the City 2, Sahara, Vanilla Sky, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and Blow.

This year is shaping up to be a good year for Latinos at the Oscars.  With seven nominees (see Demian Bichir Leads List of Seven) and several presenters, it  falls short of the banner year in 2006 when the total of Latino nominees was double for a grand total of fourteen!

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network (check your local listings for times). The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide
