In a special preview presided over by director Carlos Saldanha we caught a glimpse of what audiences can expect when Rio 2 opens on April 11, 2014. A select group of press were treated to a fun session with Saldanha who gave us a behind the scenes look at sequel and the process of working with voice talent, as he welcomed original cast members and the latest cast additions to the sequel.
Joining original cast members Anne Hathaway as Jewel, Jesse Eisenberg as Blu, George Lopez, Jamie Foxx, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, Tracy Morgan, Jemaine Clement, and will.i.am in Rio 2 are Oscar nominated Andy Garcia; Tony/Oscar/Grammy/ and Emmy winner Rita Moreno, Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth, and Grammy winner Bruno Mars.
From the clips shown, there is no doubt that in Rio 2 Bruno Mars who plays Roberto will captivate audiences with his voice. Roberto can be seen mesmerizing the Amazon with his voice and his one of a kind presence.
Being that director Carlos Saldanha is from Brazil, he explained how it is important to not only be able to create a Brazil that is true to the Brazilian culture but to introduce and create an atmosphere that all audience members can find a connection with.
Rio 2 offers the audience familiar and original vibrant and fun filled songs. Brazilian musicians Sergio Mendes and Carlihos Brown return to continue to add their musical genius to the sequel along with film composer John Powell.
The array of sounds range from the more traditional sounds of Brazil to other familiar music genres that will be performed with a musical twist. Audiences are in for a treat as they enjoy the familiar song and discover new favorites.
Also available for viewing in 3-D, the sequel looks like a magical experience and it really does feel as if you can reach out and touch the menagerie of exotic birds and animals in the Amazon. The animation is spectacular and the animators did a great job in bringing to life such a breathtaking ambiance!
This is an Amazon Family Adventure that all ages can cherish!
