Breaking News: Jenni Rivera Dies in Private Plane Crash In Mexico!

Mexican Officials Careful With Reports, But All On Board Feared Dead

It is confirmed there were no survivors in the Learjet 25 plane crash which took off at 3:15 AM local time from Monterey, Mexico on Sunday and fell off the radar 10 minutes (or 62 miles) after take-off.Jenni Rivera had just finished  a concert in Monterey when she and her publicist, make up artist, manager and the pilot and co-pilot of the plane went down in the mountain terrain.

Jenni’s family held on to hope that Jenni might still be alive until about 5:20PM Sunday, when Jenni’s father, Pedro Rivera announced in his front yard in Lynwood, California that indeed Jenni has passed away.

The Learjet 25 jet is believed to have been carrying seven people – five passengers and two pilots. It was headed for Toluca International Aiport, located outside of Mexico City, where it was meant to arrive at 4:40 a.m. An official search for the jet was initiated at sunrise.

Rivera’s publicist Arturo Rivera and her make-up artist Jacob Yebale are believed to be among the dead.

The Mexican American singer’s most recent tweet is a re-tweet of what appears to be a fan’s message.

Rivera was due in Toluca this evening for the taping of a Mexican TV show, La Voz. Televisa has canceled tonight’s show given Rivera’s disappearance.

According to Univision, the superstar, queen of La Banda genre, Jenni Rivera was on a private plane flying from Monterrey, Mexico to el D.F. (Mexico City) early this morning when controllers lost contact with the pilots. As of 12:08 Univision reporting, Rivera is one of five individuals on board and there is no news of their whereabouts.

Authorities in northern Mexico are confirming that a small plane carrying Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera has gone missing after taking off from the city of Monterrey.

Jorge Domene, spokesman for the Nuevo Leon state government, told Milenio television on Sunday that the plane left Monterrey about 3:30 a.m after a concert there. It was bound for Toluca, which is located outside Mexico City.

Domene says a search for the plane was launched early Sunday, with helicopters from the local civilian protection agency flying over the state. He says seven people are believed to be aboard the U.S.-registered Learjet 25.

The 43-year-old who was born and raised in Long Beach, Calif., is known for her interpretations of Mexican regional music known as nortena and banda.  Most recently she has been starring and executive producer of her own television reality show entitled  I Love Jenni which is in its second season on the num2 bilingual (Spanish/English) and news of an ABC family sitcom had been announced only last week.

Rivera had recently confronted her scare with breast cancer on her realty show, refusing to turn off the cameras.

“People need to know that I’m not superwoman, that I have feelings and I cry and that I understand what a woman feels when they go through this,” Rivera said.
