WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) announces the 26th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards (HHA) will be broadcast on MundoFox, Sunday, September 15, at 6:00 p.m. EST/PST. The entertainment special will tape on September 5at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Awards will once again celebrate Hispanic cultural pride, contributions, and accomplishments. Honorees will be announced later this month.
“We are thrilled to have this MundoFox partnership to further our reach in America and beyond to share our rich history of recognizing Latino leadership, accomplishment, and cultural pride. We look forward to working within the FOX family to promote and recognize role models and the great promise of the Latino community going forward,” said Antonio Tijerino, President & CEO, Hispanic Heritage Foundation.
The Hispanic Heritage Awards were established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month. Since that time, the Hispanic Heritage Awards have honored top Latino leaders in various categories for their impact on America and the world.
After more than 10 years of being broadcast on TV, this will mark the first time the Awards will be on MundoFox.
“We launched MundoFox as a direct response to the massive growth of the Hispanic market in the United States,” said Emiliano Saccone, President of MundoFox. “It is our honor to be part of an event that recognizes the important societal contributions that our community makes every day. We look forward to an exciting and memorable broadcast.”
For the past 25 years the HHA’s have honored Latino leaders who have made a positive impact on America, and globally, in various fields including the Arts, Sports, Business, Education, Media, Innovation, Science, Public Service, Youth and other categories. The Awards are unique in that celebrities take the stage along with educators, innovators, community and business leaders, elected officials, and physicians, among others. Past Honorees, presenters and performers have included Alejandro Sanz, Juanes, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Placido Domingo, Juan Luis Guerra, US Reps Ileana Ros Lehtinen and Xavier Becerra, Oscar de la Hoya, Mana, Rosario Dawson, Pitbull, Los Tigres Del Norte, America Ferrera, Olga Tañon, and Rita Moreno, to name a few. Performers and presenters will be announced later this summer. The Awards serve as a launch of HHF’s year-round programs focusing on youth.
Executive producers of the Awards and TV special are David Chavez, Otto Padron and Antonio Tijerino. Chavez is a founder and past executive producer of the network TV specials ALMA Awards and Premios Deportes.
