MCLEAN, Virginia, March 25 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) have announced keynote speakers for their spring 2008 Conference & Exposition taking place April 16 - 19 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Conference & Expo, which will be located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, will host four major keynote sessions designed to help publishers, editors and journalists in the Hispanic media marketplace to address how to effectively respond and react to the forecasted and current digital challenges confronting publishing businesses across the country. In addition to the keynotes, attendees will be given open admission to thirty-four workshop and panel sessions, providing them with unprecedented access to all sessions and speakers. Monica Lozano, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of La Opinión, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States, and Senior Vice President of its parent company, ImpreMedia, Frank Sharry, Executive Director, National Immigration Forum, Alicia Morga, Founder and CEO, Consorte Media, and Milton Coleman, Deputy Managing Editor, The Washington Post will address these topics and offer insights based on their own recent experiences navigating through similar challenges and opportunities.
"The current economy and potential challenges that lie ahead have forced publishing companies to rethink how they spend their dollars more efficiently," said Judith Martinez-Sadri, Editor, Atlanta Latino newspaper and Co-Chair of the 2008 NAHP Conference Committee. "Publishers need to utilize technology, in addition to the traditional media, and expand to a multimedia platform which will result in a much broader reach of audience and readers. We are in a new era."
"Increased revenues, better reader experiences, improved operational efficiencies and reduced costs are all outcomes that are available to Hispanic publishers both large and small," adds Clara Padilla Andrews, Publisher of El Hispanic News, and National President of NAHP. "We want to help educate attendees on the ideas and opportunities that are available to them and help prepare them for the new digital challenges they may face."
The 2008 Jose A. Marti Awards will be announced which honor Hispanic media for Excellence in Written Word, Photography, Cartooning, Sections, Marketing, Design and Overall Publishing Excellence, the six total categories represented by the awards.
