History is made as the first Telemundo star to co-host the morning show

Miami, Fla. – Although it has been about five years since NBC purchased Telemundo not much in the way of talent or programming co-mingling has been seen from the two networks, but it was bound to happen sooner or later. In a history making move Maria Celeste Arraras, star and managing editor of Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste guest co-host on the Today show on Friday, June 23.
Maria Celeste will be presenting various segments for Today between the 9 to 10 AM time slot, live from New York's Rockefeller Plaza, where the morning show has set up an outdoor summer studio.
Maria Celeste, an Emmy-award winning journalist, is not new to the NBC family, nor the Today show. She has been an occasional contributing correspondent for both Today and Dateline. She was also co-host for the most recent Black-Brown Democratic Presidential Debate in Iowa for MSNBC.
Maria Celeste, who joined Telemundo/NBC 4 years ago, has been featured on the cover of People en Español more than any other Hispanic personality and this year, she was named one of the magazine’s "50 Most Beautiful People." In addition, People, its sister magazine, included her this year in its "100 Most Beautiful People" edition as one of the “Beauties Around the Clock.”
Maria Celeste, who lives in Miami, is also a mother of three and a best-selling autor.
Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste (5pm/4pm CT), airs Monday through Friday on Telemundo. The show is an infotainment news magazine that takes viewers around the world in an hour. Its format has been described as “paella style” because it covers several areas within the time period such as news of the day, immigration, health, sports, entertainment and consumer issues.
