Telemundo 52 First Spanish-Language Station To Deliver HD

High Definition Debut Begins September 15th

Los Angeles, CA, – Telemundo 52 announced today that as of September 15th KVEA will be the first Spanish-language station in the country to transmit its award-winning newscasts in High Definition. Viewers will be able to watch the news programs En Contexto at 11PM, Noticiero 52 at 6PM, Buenos Días at 5AM, as well as Al Mediodía in HD.
Los Angeles, KVEA, Telemundo 52 has paved the way by being the first to go completely digital. The Spanish-language stationalso offesr a local website and now the first Spanish-language station to go High Definition.
Telemundo 52’s new General Manager, Mike Rodriguez said, “We are thrilled to offer our viewers an unparalleled television experience, allowing them to watch our daily newscasts in their most optimum state.”
Once Telemundo 52 is transmitting in High Definition, viewers can expect to see greater detail and a superior picture quality, as HD offers twice the standard number of scanning lines per frame. In fact, HDTV offers the highest resolution and sharpest picture, with tremendous clarity, richer and more natural colors, as well as surround sound, supported by the Dolby Digital format.
February 17, 2009 marks the final stage of the migration of all US television stations from broadcasting both analog TV and digital TV signals to broadcasting only digital TV. All-digital broadcasting will free up spectrum for public safety, such as police, fire, and emergency rescue, and for new advanced wireless services for consumers.
The launch of Telemundo 52 in HD will coincide with ¡Viva México! El Grito, an on-air special commemorating Mexico’s Independence from Spain. This two-hour special will be produced in High Definition with 13 cameras and from two venues and Telemundo 52 in Los Angeles will broadcast it in HD. The special will air Sunday, September 16th at 7:00 PM (PST). ¡Viva México! El Grito will have star-studded performances by Lucero, Gloria Trevi, Antonio Aguilar Jr., Ninel Conde, Autoridad de la Sierra, Beatríz Adriana and many more.
