Ricky Muñoz, leader, founder, accordionist and vocalist of the award-winning group Intocable, has signed with SESAC Latina for the world, except Mexico, representation of the public performing rights of his songs.
His decision to join our society of composers coincides with Intocable’s signing of a recording contract with Universal Music Latin Entertainment. The group’s first album as part of this alliance is to be released in March 2013 and is titled “Peligro De Extinción“ (Danger of Extinction).
Over an 18-year career in which Intocable has won many of the industry’s top awards, including the Grammy®, Ricky Muñoz has become one of the most influential personalities in Regional Mexican music. As leader of Intocable, he’s spearheaded norteño music’s evolution thanks to outstanding material, innovative musical arrangements, keepsake albums and unforgettable live performances. Muñoz was devastated with the death of his good friend and fellow performer, Jenni Rivera and stated the genre of norteño would never be the same with her amazing songs.
With an unmistakable voice, Ricky Muñoz has taken norteño beyond its customary markets while developing himself into a well-rounded creative force who takes an active role in song selection, production and composition.
Representing SESAC Latina, Vice President J. J. Cheng gives her formal welcome to Ricky Muñoz, observing, “Ricky is a true creator, an artist and a leader who represents and leads the young generation’s movement to nourish Regional Mexican music. That’s why we are proud that he’s now part of our family of writers.”
