Created by Dr. Marlow Hernandez, a local specialist in Internal Medicine, and produced by Cano Health, the show tests contestants’ abilities to respond to medically related circumstances. The 12-episode reality series will air every Sunday beginning April 26, 2015 at 8 p.m. E/P.

“Through Medicina Moderna, Vme TV presents a reality show that is not only entertaining, but offers our viewers a real life glimpse of the medical profession and the challenges of addressing medical issues affecting the Hispanic community”

“Through Medicina Moderna, Vme TV presents a reality show that is not only entertaining, but offers our viewers a real life glimpse of the medical profession and the challenges of addressing medical issues affecting the Hispanic community,” said Victor X. Cerda, Vme TV’s senior vice president of corporate strategy.

Contestants are Florida residents selected from a casting call. Shot on location at supermarkets, hardware stores, homes, parks, and medical offices, “Medicina Moderna” challenges the contestant’s abilities to resolve unique situations or perform activities in various health and medically relevant settings. Their actions are exposed in a never before seen format. During each episode, the contestant’s problem solving skills, motivation, altruism and human compassion are measured to identify who is the best candidate to fill an executive position within the company.

“We are thrilled to share our professional experiences with the Hispanic community through Vme TV’s platform. This is an opportunity for audiences across the country to gain a deeper understanding of the medical field and the dedication that it involves,” said Dr. Hernandez.

Moreover, Cano Health will be hosting an exclusive “Medicina Moderna” premiere red carpet event. The fundraiser in Coral Gables at the historic landmark, “The Cocoplum,” will benefit Cano Life 501(c)(3) and the Boys and Girls Club. The event, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 7 p.m., will include a private performance by Donato Poveda Lopez. Several music and entertainment guests will be in attendance including Grammy Award recipients Willy Chirino and Jorge Villamizar. The MC for the event will be Rick Sanchez, the Emmy Award-winning journalist and TV host.
