— Award-winning actress, singer and dancer to be recognized as one of six Kennedy Center Honors recipients —

MIAMI, FL - July 20, 2015 - (HISPANICIZE WIRE) - Vme TV congratulates its advisory board member, Rita Moreno, who will be a recipient of the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors to take place December 5, 2015. Moreno is one of only five Hispanics to have received this award.

“We are privileged to have Rita on our Vme TV advisory board and are proud that the she is getting this well-overdue recognition from the Kennedy Center. Vme also applauds organizations such as the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts for advocating on behalf of her and other Hispanic artists so that they receive recognition beyond the Latino community”

Moreno, whose artistic career began on Broadway at the young age of 13, has appeared in more than 40 feature films, many television shows and theater stages around the world. The Puerto Rican actress, singer and dancer has served as a leading example, for decades, of what Hispanic-Americans can accomplish and of the many ways that Latinos have positively impacted the United States, breaking stereotypes and entertaining the nation. In 1977, she became one of 12 artists and the first Hispanic artist to have won all top four American entertainment awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).

“Rita Moreno is a cultural icon for not only the U.S. Hispanic community, but for the entire art and entertainment world,” said Victor X. Cerda, Vme TV’s vice-president of corporate strategy. “We are privileged to have Rita on our Vme TV advisory board and are proud that the she is getting this well-overdue recognition from the Kennedy Center. Vme also applauds organizations such as the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts for advocating on behalf of her and other Hispanic artists so that they receive recognition beyond the Latino community.”

The Honors recipients are recognized for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts and are selected by the Executive Committee of the Center’s Board of Trustees. The Kennedy Center Honors medallions will be presented on Saturday, December 5, the night before the gala, at a State Department dinner hosted by Secretary of State John Kerry.
