MIAMI, FL - March 29, 2017 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) - Hispanicize Media Group (HMG) announced today that Telemundo will return as the official digital sponsor of the 2017 Tecla Awards (www.TeclaAwards.com), which this year will be co-hosted by El Pulso Mashable’s Christian Acosta and Emmy Award-winning entertainment industry influencer Pili Montilla.

Named after the Spanish-language word for an individual key on a keyboard, the annual Hispanicize Tecla Awards honors excellence in U.S. Latino online video, blogging, social media and those who create it. As the digital sponsor, Telemundo, in partnership with Hispanicize, will present the Teclas to close an action-packed Hispanicize week in downtown Miami on Thursday, April 6 at the Olympia Theatre.

Joining Acosta and Montilla will be several surprise music acts and a lineup of top Latino and multicultural digital content creators who will present the various categories of the Tecla Awards. The categories and finalists of the 2017 Tecla Awards can be found HERE.

The network will once again present its own special Tecla award, the Telemundo Digital Innovation Award, to an individual known for using social media to drive positive change supporting their global fan community. The inaugural 2016 Telemundo Tecla for Digital Innovation was awarded to Pope Francis and hand delivered to the Vatican by Telemundo and Hispanicize executives.

“Digital and social media influencers have become a powerful community, changing the way businesses of all types market themselves,” said Borja Perez, Senior Vice President, Digital and Social Media, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “As a leading digital and social media company regardless of language, we understand how important it is to recognize leading digital and social innovators and the Tecla Awards is a great way to celebrate and empower them.”

“Telemundo’s support and contributions to the Hispanicize Tecla Awards enables our creators’ community to continue growing and developing our new cultural icons - the influencers creating content that resonates and engages with Latinos and others,” said Cristy Clavijo-Kish, Hispanicize Media Group Chief Development Officer and Tecla Awards Chair.

“The partnership helps elevate our show and delivers a top-quality production worth of our fabulous creators,” added Katherine Johnson-Gunn, Hispanicize Media Group Senior Vice President/Partner & Teclas Executive Producer.
