NHFA’s 16th Annual Noche de Gala on September 11th

Washington, DC– The National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts’ (NHFA) 2012 Noche de Gala, hosted by Co-founders Jimmy Smits and Esai Morales, will take place on Tuesday, Sept 11, 2012 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. NHFA was created in 1997 to promote Hispanic talent in the performing arts.

NHFA will honor Academy Award-nominated actor Demián Bichir with the 2012 Raul Julia Award for Excellence for his widespread success as a film, television and stage actor.   NHFA will also honor emerging actors Cierra Ramirez and Gina Rodriguez with the 2012 Horizon Award.

In addition, the NHFA will present the 2012 Scholarship recipients, with Adel L. Morales from NYU Tisch School of the Arts selected to speak on their behalf.  Musical Guest:  American Idol’s Stefano Langone. Nuevo Latino menu provided by Cuba Libre Bar & Restaurant and Chef Guillermo Pernot.

Also attending are writer/director Rashaad Ernesto Green (last year’s Horizon Award recipient), Jesse Garcia, Kurt Caceres, Antoinette Zel, the new CEO of El Rey Cable Channel, NAACP President Benjamin Jealous, Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, Rep. Loretta Sanchez; Raul S. Julia, and many others when the next generation of Latinowood descends upon the Potomac.
