2012 Imagen Award – A Strong List of Nominees

ABC Tops TV Nom List – Filly Brown & Without Men On Top with Feature Noms With 4 Each

Pasadena, CA – The Imagen Foundation has announced the nominees for the 27th Annual Imagen (Spanish for “image”) Awards, honoring positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures in entertainment.  The awards will be presented at a gala black-tie dinner on Friday evening, August 10th, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel International Ballroom.  The Imagen Awards will air as a one hour special on PBS SoCal on Sunday, September 23rd.

With a strong mix of independently produced productions right along side broadcast and cable network projects, this crop of Imagen Award nominees are an impressive list.

Broadcast network ABC rises to the top with ten (10) of the nominated shows, while cable tv’s HBO takes the prize in that realm with six (6) nominations.

On the feature film side, two independent films take up the space, each with four (4) nominations.  2012 Sundance darling, Filly Brown garnered noms for Best Feature Film, Best Director (Youssef Delara & Michael Olmos); Best Actor, Lou Diamond Phillips; and Best Actress, Gina Rodriguez.  Maya Entertainment’s Without Men received nominations for Best Director, Gabriela Tagliavini; Best Actress, Eva Longoria; and two nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category for Monica Huarte and Kate del Castillo
